The first thing to do is to gather all of the needed materials for votive candle making, the supplies you are going to need are: votive candle mold, paraffin wax, wick, wick tab, double boiler, carving knife, thermometer, olive oil, and a spoon. If you want you can also obtain some scented oils and color dyes but this is optional. Now that you have everything that you need you are ready to get started!

The first step is to take the paraffin wax and cut it in to chunks. Place these chunks in to the top pot of the double boiler and fill the bottom pot about three inches full of water. Bring the water to a boil and place the thermometer to check the temperature often, it will be ready at around 170 degrees.

Make sure that you use the spoon to stir the wax often and keep an eye on it, as the wax is melting you can prepare the mold. Take the votive mold and wipe the inside of it with olive oil, this is going to make the candle come out easily when it is dry. Now if the wick is not strung through the wick tab then do this now. Place the wick tab in the bottom center of the mold, make sure it is in the center.

If the wax is ready then you can add the scented oil and the color dye at this time, just make sure that you mix everything in well. Now pour the wax in to the mold, take it slow and steady.
